1. Um, dunno.
2. Read
3. Have a baby by caesarian in a Japanese hospital.
4. Depends on what country/state I'm in. In most of Queensland I prefer winter, then spring, autumn and summer. In Tokyo I prefer spring and autumn, then summer and winter. In Sapporo (northern Japan), well, up there it is a choice of cold, snow or summer. I preferred summer.
5. Really I prefer temps stable around 20-25 degrees, moderate humidity, no wind, and only the occasional rainy day. When that happens depends on where you live.

1. Gone With The Wind
2. Lay in bed and read
3. Ate a slug for $20
4. Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn
5. Spring is full of expectation and the anticipation of Summer. Summer's great, but I'm slightly melancholy knowing it'll end soon. Winter is lonesome and bleak, but there's the promise of Spring around the corner. Autumn is no more Summer and the sad anticipation of Winter. Boo.

1. Rebel Without a Cause
2. Sit down and read
3. Got lifts with people who shouldn't have been driving.
4. Spring. Summer. Autumn. Winter.
5. After a long and bitter winter in Tassie, spring comes and brings with it bulbs and roses and new leaves. Summer is superb - mostly about 25 degrees. Autumnal colours of red and yellow together with fruit in season is a real treat. Winter is still fine with me - an opportunity to cook unctuous slow food and wear wool.

1. So many. Why can't I think of them now? The Godfather II and III.
2. Organize and tidy the flat... which has just been happening piece-meal since we've moved. It is hard with two littlies.
3. Flown with **** Air, a super cheap airline in Europe that once "jammed" the door for our flight home. Not really death defying. Nothing else counts.
4. Autumn, Spring, Winter, Summer. Close to Crazy Jedidiah. I like summer. I just LOVE winter. And I mean cold snowy Iowa winter with sledding and keeping animals warm with hay outside and keeping ourselves warm on the long evenings around the fireplace. Reading. Yes, I do idealize it.
5. Farm girl. Do you need other explaination? Autumn is the culmination of the year... harvest, amazing colours, the air turning crisp, the smells, Thanksgiving, anticipation of Christmas (Northern Hemisphere) and the space and time that winter brings.

Dawn Merz said...

Oh, and yes, I do live in Australia now, though I think like a Northern Hemispherian.

1. A classic fillum you've never seen - not sure about fillums, but films include GWTW, Casablanca, half the Hitchcocks ...
2. I'd love a day to just.. - not sure, horseriding perhaps? I'm unemployed ATM so time is fairly flexible for me.
3. Something death-defying you've done - erm, heart operation? Standing too close to a cliff edge, flooded river, road for my mother's liking?
4. List the seasons in your order of preference - Autumn and Winter, Summer, Spring
5. ..And explain why - autumn and winter rate pretty equally - I like wearing warm clothes and hot food is nicer to make in winter; in autumn there's more light and the anticipation of cooler weather and dry days, summer for the fruit and possibility of swimming, spring is not much of an event in the sub-tropics. Like Wendy explains, if I lived elsewhere my favourites might be different.

1. A Wonderful Life
2. Read.
3. Had TB as a kid.
4. Autumn, Summer, Spring, Winter.
5. Autumn is Melbourne's best season. Warm days, cool nights, not too much rain.

1. All the above films except GWTW
2. Read, SCUBA,sleep
3. Gone black water caving in the pich black with a wetsuit and inner tube, jumped off a giant cliff (tech I was dropped), I found the PNG flight where I could see the jungle through the crack in the door to be a bit death defying, SCUBA Diving- particularly at night in PNG, and parasailing was a bit I suppose!
4. Autumn, spring, winter, summer
5. Autumn for the change in temp between night and day and the cool crisp mornings, similarly spring, except that I'm dreading the stifling heat of summer, winter for the coziness. But I love summer when I'm on hols. It's pretty close

3. Led a church through closing three small out of town worship places.
4. Winter, Autumn, Spring, Summer.
5. Cold; getting cold; still cold; waiting for the days to get shorter and colder.

1. The Princess Bride. Is that classic enough? If not, Star Wars.
2. Read, play my musical instruments for fun and take photos of beautiful things.
3. Umm...nothing. Sad but true.
4. Autumn, spring, summer, winter.
5. Love the in-between too hot and too cold times. Autumn has prettier colours. Prefer the longer days of summer to the short days and dark mornings in winter.

2. Sit. By myself.
3. Taught year 7 at x school. Not for the faint hearted. I was ready to run by 9.15.
4. Spring, Summer, Winter, Autumn
5. Spring is anticipation and hope and excitement, Summer fulfils it. Winter is cold, but Autumn is dread. Dread of growing old, another year has gone, doom is coming.

1. American Pie ... and The Matrix

2. Sleep! After spending 48 hours in transit I am rather the worse for the wear!

3. Told my parents I was moving to Australia ...

4. Summer, winter, spring, fall

5. I always used to think winter was my favorite because my birthday was in the winter, but then I moved to Australia and my birthday was suddenly in the summer ... and now I've decided I really do like summer best -- mainly for the beach. I'm also a big fan of Sydney's "this is our city in summer" banners (which I've now acquired one of!!). Winter is next because I like extremes best -- the snow is beautiful -- followed by spring because that means summer (the favorite) is coming, followed by fall, which is just a bit glum.

1. Any Humphrey bogart movie, except I've seen Casablanca.

Dawn- Ab was keen to watch the godfather series, he fell asleep within 10 mins, and being a ridiculous completion freak, I kept watching. You haven't missed much!

2. Sleep, watch classic filllums, read, listen to music.

3. Had a sixth Caesarian. No choice really, that bubba had to come out somehow, but it is a miracle we're both ok. God has indeed been very kind.

4.

4. Spring, autumn, summer, winter

5. Spring is light cardigan weather and I love to wear cardigans. It's also that nice comfy weather- not too hot, not too cold. Autumn, similar, but not as good as spring. Summer means holidays and long days. I love daylight. Winter is just cold and dark- nothing like the northern hemisphere, I know, but I hate getting out if bed in winter- its too cold and dark.

Laetitia :-) said...

Kim - how long did you spend in the UK? Was that not as death-defying because it was still in the northern hemisphere so your parents could visit more easily and get less upset or something?

Cjed- You beat me to Gone With The Wind. i've been meaning to watch it for ages.

Pedro- Water in trunks? Like an elephant drinking?

Wendy- 20 -25 is nice. But I like a bit of extra heat. Hot enough for the cicadas to start their yelling.

Al- Rebel is worth a watch. It's pretty cool.

Dawn- I love the idea of harvest and all that. Must have been pretty great living on a farm. ps- Godfather II is very worth it.

Laetitia- your seasons are the opposite to mine.

Deb- I tried watching A Wonderful Life but the dvd started skipping, then stopped playing. I was quietly relieved.

George- that caving in the dark sounds terrifying. I'd pretty much rather do anything else before that.

gary- I'd love to go to a big comic con. One day. ps- On The Waterfront is FANTASTIC.

Karen- No Star Wars?! How terrible.

Maso- sounds like there's actually about 4 people in the world who HAVE seen GWTH.

Simone- we have the same season rationalisation. Autumn is dread.. spot on.

Kim- don't bother with The matrix. One of the most over-rated dopey movies in ages. People will ague, but deep down they know I'm right.

Ruth- you're right, He's VERY kind.

Hehe, Ben I was a bit terrified for bits of it - particularly when we had to jump backwards into the inner tube in the pitch black about 6 feet down. I think the difference is that I enjoyed the fear! Lol.
