Was it good? Would my boys like it?

T be honest I was pretty dissappointed. There's probably good things about it, but for me it didn't come close to being up there with the usual Pixar quality. It looked fantastic, but for me the story and acting etc etc were kind of weak and cringey. Sad. I was also sad because I'd wanted to take my girls, but it was way too scary for them to see.

So, I'm probably overly biased, I'm sure lots of people will like it. Dunno.

I saw it with the wife and boys on Tuesday (left the daughter with my sister, which turned out to be a good thing, scary bear).

I was pretty disappointed too. It looked incredible (as usual, though I did notice a background character not moving AT ALL through an entire scene, and the horse's hooves didn't impact the ground when he was running on it, which was... weird), but you're right about the story. It just did nothing for me at all, no twist, nothing out of the expected (a girl who doesn't want to get married and is good at something! Shock!).

I read an interesting take on it here (it's in the middle of the article). He pointed out that the dad was basically useless, and he's right. Jen and I were discussing the lack-of-good-dadness this morning, and I think that ALL the good Pixar movies have good Dad-type figures in them. I don't think it's what makes them good, but it's part of a good movie. It's lazy to just have a dumb dad.

Not what I expected from a Pixar movie, just felt plain and uninspired.
