We were recently thinking through the whole public school vs. Christian school thing, with Little e starting school next year. It's a tricky one. For several reasons we decided to send her to the public school just up the road from our place.
Karen wrote a really good post the other day , based on her experiences of choosing the public school route.

It's so funny, I always thought it was a no-brainer to send kids the public school route. Off the top of my head, reasons include:
--they'll actually have non-Christian friends that way
--they'll get a much better understanding for how things actually operate outside of a Christian bubble
--be IN the world, not of the world
--it's up to parents and churches to teach kids about Jesus ... sure, it wouldn't hurt if schools did, but it means more coming from home.
--it saves you a TON of money -- responsible use of finances!
So, anyway, I totally vote public schools. It's what I did and I'm very glad. What I did do was then go to a Christian college for university -- four of the most formative years in terms of adult cognitive development -- and I'm very glad I did. But as soon as I graduated -- back into the secular work environment!
Of course, if you clearly sense God has particular plans for your kids in a Christian school, well, that makes all the difference. But if you're just generally tossing things up, that's my two cents.
