The Forgotten Garden
by Kate Morton

Review by Crazyjedidiah

A little girl is found abandoned on a ship to Australia just before World War I begins. The Authoress who promised to look after her has disappeared without a trace. Nell O'Connor learns a terrible secret on her 21st birthday which will change her life forever and take her to the windswept Cornish coast and the Blackhurst Manor, where the Mountrachet family once lived, and where Nell seeks the truth. When Nell dies her granddaughter, Cassandra, inherits Cliff Cottage and heads back to Cornwall to discover the secrets of the Mountrachet family and their mysterious ward Eliza Makepeace.

This is an amazing story, it's a mystery but not a crime one, a family mystery. It tells a story of a family over a century weaving the stories of the different characters and different time periods in and out of one another. It's fantastic seeing how all the pieces fit together and how the story pans out.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves reading family histories as well as to those who love mystery stories.

Thanks again for the review! Crazyjedidiah blogs at Gibberish.
