The Story of Solomon Bear
by Phillip Laird

Review by Crazyjedidiah

Solomon Bear and the Girl were the only ones in the house by the forest that know how to love. The Grown Ups are annoyed with all the affection that the Girl shows towards Solomon and tell her that she is not to play with him any more. The Girl then runs away and leaves Solomon in the house. After days of the Girl not coming back Solomon sets out on a quest to find the Girl whom he loves.

This is a fairy tale that sets out to show the importance of love and that it can overcome obstacles. There were also elements of the story that reminded me of Toy Story. It is a lovely story, however in some spots it is written slightly awkwardly and could have been edited a bit more.

This story seems to be written for a child audience in mind, however the concepts within the story seem to be more adult. I would recommend that it be read by older children and those who are young at heart.

A kids/adult book is exactly where my head's at right now! This sounds like a good one - will check my library for it!
