C.B.R.P. ~Job

This bit from Job 16 stood out to me this morning-

19 Even now my witness is in heaven;
my advocate is on high.
20 My intercessor is my friend
    as my eyes pour out tears to God;
21 on behalf of a man he pleads with God
as one pleads for a friend.

Wow.

Is Job inadvertantly talking about Jesus here? Or the Holy Spirit? It reminds me a lot this bit from Romans 8-

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Considering when Job lived, how would have known about all that interceding stuff? Anyway, all that aside, what a beautiful piece of writing.

I have to agree with you on the "wow." It definitely sounds like the paraclete we hear about in the New Testament.

Job is such an fascinating book. I was just thinking the other day about the line, "Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without wisdom?" Gulp.

I think you are taking more in than me ;)

Great point though. And you're right, there is some fantastic writing in there.

I like the well chosen artwork you've accompanied this post with too...
