Farewell Cuddlestown

Do you know what's completely brilliantly awesome? I'm working on my Last. Ever. Bananas in Pyjamas. Storyboard! The joy, the exultation!

We are about to wrap up series 2, and I'm working on Episode #153.  Did you catch that? One Hundred And Fifty Three. That is a lot of episodes of a show about talking fruit. Any more episodes may have tipped me over the edge. It's touch and go as it is.

So, after two or three years on this I'm pretty pumped that it's drawing to a close. I'm also happy with the way the show turned out, and about how well it's done, particularly after the slagging off it got at the beginning. It continually rates very well, and I think it's often the highest rating show on digital tele. Or something like that.

So, happily off the back of that we have gotten another show up to follow on with. I can't say too much about it, but it's a fun idea based on a children's book written a few years ago. I'm really looking forward to working on it, and should start on that in a few weeks.

WOW! That's big news. Congratulations on being part of such a well-loved show. It's a big hit at our house. I'd say that we're going to miss it, but I'm sure the ABC plans to keep playing it for years and years so my kids will no doubt well and truly out-grow it before it disappears from our screens. I presume you'll have a big final party... no doubt with honey cakes and yellow jelly.

Thanks Deb, I'm glad your kids like it. there's still all of series 2 yet to be screened, so it'll be a while before you get a rest from it!

I like the photo you've chosen for this one! Bananas has become a huge hit in our house, too, which I'm very much appreciating after a Peppa-Pig-only phase (Bananas is at least long enough for me to dash off and shower).

I'm happy that you're finally moving on to new and non-fruity things! May your next project go just as well ratings-wise while being far more satisfying and fun for you.

Wow. That IS big news... I was wondering how many Bananas storylines could possibly be written (and drawn) before it came to the point at which the proverbial dead horse was being flogged (or at which the writers and animators died of boredom). 153 is pretty amazing :)

Good to hear there's still plenty more to come. The three year old and the almost one year old have lots of Bananas viewing ahead of them.

All the best with the new project.

I've been meaning to say this for, oh, going on nine months now, and it seems like this might just be the time. The 3 year old Chilean boy I live with here in Chile (Chilean boys in Chile - bet you weren't expecting that) watches Bananas dubbed in Spanish all the time. Hope that tickles yr fancy/warms yr cockles. I told him about how I know (I may have taken some liberties here) the person who drew it, but I don't think he understands that such things have to be drawn, so my boasting fell a little flat.
