Hello?

I got my first proper, proper smartphone thing over the break. It's a Samsung Galaxy SII. To be fair to my old Nokia, that was kind of a smartish phone, or at least could have been had he applied himself more. But this is my first touch-screen one with the internet and other assorted whatnots.

For all my previous mocking of such things, it's pretty exciting to have this new nifty gadget. I'm loving having the internet, and also being able to use the phone as my mp3 player. And the camera is great. Shweet mate. And wowsers, all those apps! Suddenly there all just sitting there waiting for me to get! Don't really know where to begin though.. so far all I've gotten is this app thing that makes your phone like a torch. I wanted it for night time veggie garden patrol, where I squash any slimy nasties who get too close to my silverbeets. It's cool except whenever I use it it brings all these dopey ads onto my desktop. What's up with that?

And I've never really been a games sort of guy either but the siren is calling, I've gotta say. Never played a game of Angry Birds in my life, and have openly mocked those who do. And yet there';s the little icon, just waiting for me to click and download. I fear this slippery slope. One minute I click to download my first app, the next minute I'll be riding around on my fixie, with a beanie and skinny jeans in the middle of Summer, with a single origin latte in my hand. Dangerous.

So, to you folks who have crossed this territory already, can you give me some hints or survival tips? What should I get? What should I steer clear of?

ps- any other bloggers unable to post pictures at the moment? Second day in a row here..

No probs with pics bro but the smartphone???

I have no apps.
I have no games.
I don't listen to music on mine and
I rarely ever use the camera.

No real use to you I'm afraid.
I just use my phone as a ....
phone.

AAAh Galaxy S2.
Evernote. You should DEFINATELY get it. It syncs with your computer and is a note-taking kind of App.
Kid Mode is also handy. Lots of age-related kids games / songs etc.
FB Reader is what I use to read books while falling asleep.
Enjoy!
