I just installed a statcounter thing for my blog (down the bottom of the page to the left) so I can see how many hits I get (thanks Sam). Unfortunately it only starts counting from today, so it will say I have only had, say, seven hits in the last three months, rather than the actual nine or ten I have actually had.There was an option where you could type in a starting number (presumably so you don't look like a loser with seven hits), and I was very tempted to make a rough estimate of the past three months, and type in a conservative 250 000, but for the sake of truthfulness I opted for zero. I have also found that if I keep hitting refresh, I will look really popular..

Re:your stat counter, I've often thought the fact that it clicks over when hitting 'refresh' is quite misleading. I wonder if there is a stat which eliminates this problem.

now can you get one of those things that shows you where on the globe you get hits from - those are really cool! (and then my little town in the US would show up too! ;) )
Trish-- Soon after setting it up, I found an option to solve that problem. Iv'e made it so that hits from myself (self flagellation) will not register-- so don't worry, those massive numbers that you will soon see are valid with a capital V.
Ali--Thanks for the meme! I am not sure exactly what a meme is, but I'm glad to have one. Yeah, invisibility will be my go-to option when my self-confidence wains from not being hit enough..
Lu-- Baby steps, baby steps! It took me several months to work out that stat thingy. But yeah, I saw that on someone elses blog and it looked cool-- I will see to it so we can get Michigan up in lights!

And you know what else? - people who have rss feeds to your blog, well they don't show up as hits. That's kind of dumb because the people who are dedicated enough to reading your blog regularly that they rss it aren't counted!
By they way, you have four subscribers in Newsgator, and that's just one of many ...

Ali--oh right-- I don't really know about that stuff yet. why do people subscribe when they could just click on yr blog? what happens when you subscribe? And what is a feed?
