'I absolutely detest legalism, because it tells you that you have to do things, it doesn't tell you that you get to do things. You have to read your bible, you have to pray, you have.. NO! You also don't have to kiss your wife and take a nap-- you get to!
Too many people try not to sin. The goal is not to stop sinning, it's to start worshipping. The goal of life is not to avoid the bad things, but to be so consumed by God, that those desires and appetites are no longer strong, they're weakened.
Regeneration is that you have new desires.'

I have been feeling down about sin today, and so have been listening to some talks on the net. These words really encouraged me.
Are they engage talks? Can you link to them - cos I could do with some of those words too :)
Ell
Hey Ell,
No, the talks aren't from engage. They are random ones on the Resurgance website. Here is the address-

The third talk down, 'Doctrine of the Holy Spirit in Luke and Acts' is what I was quoting. It is a really good talk.
the interview with John Piper is really cool too, and has some great encouragements about marriage.
Thanks for the quote Ben!!! Really good stuff. I also must admit that I find your posts on this blog are a good mix: profound, honest, challenging, sometimes light-hearted, creative, unpretentious, well written, apt, and really good fun to read!
Thanks a lot, mate. I really appreciate hearing that, especially today.
You did a really good job of the service last night- you were just real, and spoke from the heart, and it was a great way to farewell Tom.
