Bespectacled

I excitedly picked up my glasses yesterday afternoon. I like them, though when I look in the mirror I don't see myself, I see some weird looking bearded four-eyes. I feel like I should be wearing beige shorts, knee length business socks and a pair of sensible, brown shoes.

They feel pretty weird. Is it normal for them to feel weird at first? They definitely make things look clearer, but after reading with them for a few minutes I need to take them off for a rest, because they make my head feel strange. Also I was a bit surprised that when I look at something not up close they make everything look completely blurry and poop. I have to do that old person thing of having them a little ways down my nose and peering over the top to talk to people. I hope I can get used to them.

Mate, it must be an animation thing because you described my routine exactly. All the guys at work who wear glasses do the same thing! Talk to someone or looka away from the computer and you gotta do the tilt ya head forward, look over the top of the lemses thing.
You'll be right. Don't force yourself to try and focus outside the range they are intended for or else you will make matters worse..

You DO wear beige shorts (I gave them to you) and long socks, don't you? Sandals too if memory serves....

Fully sick.

Thank God you have a nose. Apparently noses were created for holding spectacles. At least according to Dr Pangloss in Voltaire's Candide: "...everything is made for the best purpose. Observe: our noses were made to carry spectacles, so we have spectacles."

I only started reading it this morning and already I have had opportunity to drop the fact that I am reading Voltaire into a conversation. Did I mention I am reading it in French (that's a lie).

I have glasses for short-sightedness, but when I got them I felt ill when I looked at things that were not that far away, but they got much better after a few days.

I make sure I take mine off for close work, so I guess you should make sure you take yours off when you're not doing close work!

Pete--Oh yeah, I do own beige shorts.. But they are more trortz then shorts. I'm thinking mid-thigh variety.

I wonder if there are more animators with glasses then the general population..

Chris-- You are clearly very intelligent, obviously. Now that I have glasses, I can relate to you, one intelligent being to another. This blog is also available in French.

Soph-- thanks, yeah I guess it will just take a few days getting used to. I know what you mean about feeling ill-- my whole head and stomach is feeling weird this morning, just getting used to it.
