Far out. What sad news.
To be honest, the first thought that went through my head was dread of all the cold and distasteful jokes that will inevitably come from 'comedians'.
He was a very talented bloke, obviously with a lot of issues. I hope eventually he is remembered more for the former, rather than the latter.

My first thoughts were also distasteful jokes. I'll share them upon request.
My first thoughts were that I would not be watching channel 7 or 9 for a few days so that I could avoid the repetitive 'rolling coverage' that was going to play over the weekend. Very, very dull.
Sorry... just read that and it sounds harsh. I agree that it is very sad, especially for his children.
However, I find it very frustrating to watch channels 7 & 9 'celebrate' his life when he is dead when they'd have been just as happy to give him heaps if he'd done something strange or scandalous.
I feel like these channels glory in others tragedy for their own benefit. It seems like they think the channel with the most fake sincerity will win them ratings.
Also on a more pragmatic note, playing footage over and over again with nothing new to say is not good news coverage. Trying to find any old person (or publicity conscious celeb) who ever met him (however briefly) is not interesting. It is boring and pointless.
That is more what I meant.
I agree, it's going to just be a big media and joke fest. My memories will try to be of when I was in high school and nothing more. He deserves to be rested in peace and left alone.
