Bravery

Lately I have been thinking about courage, and what it looks like in a person.

The conclusion that I have come to is that bravery does not mean that you are not afraid, even terrified of things, but that you confront those things, even though they terrify you.

As Joyce Meyers says - God doesn't tell us not to 'feel' fearful (knots in the stomach, sweaty palms...), He tells us to not 'be' afraid. So, as someone said to her, "Feel the fear and do it anyway."

Now, the next time I have to perform in front of someone I just have to remember that acronym False Expectations Appearing Real.

Just that we often build up in our heads these images / expectations that are not reality. So they are False Expectations that Appear Real, but are not actually real.

So for me I'll have to remind myself that the expectation I have of an event prior to its occasion is generally not real - the event is not normally as bad as I have imagined, and in fact my imagination often makes things worse.
