In a recent quiz I said that John Hughes was a director I really liked. I just read that he died at the age of 59. Sad.
He made The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, Uncle Buck and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Oh, and Home Alone.
I liked him because though he made mainstream movies, he did so with a kind of individual quirkiness that made them stand out as being a bit different.
Here's a little bit of comedy gold from my personal favourite, Planes Trains and Automobiles.
