Is it just me, or do the ladies seem to prefer the noodly dishes?
mmm, never thought about that! Now that you mention it, I do tend to choose noodles while sam has rice dishes. However, Sam's favourite asian dish is singapore noodles. so that breaks the theory a little.
I'm frightened to delve for fear of offending, but I think it's true, at least as a general stereotype.
If you got a group of 20 girls together and they all ordered their first choice, I bet well over 10 would order pad thai.
And while I'm making sweeping generalisations, I reckon this trend extends beyond Thai. For example, the Indian equivalent would be butter chicken.

I have a scientific basis for your theory ben! Apparently girl tongues are more attuned to sweet tasting flavours, whereas men prefer savoury/stronger flavours. That would make sense of why girls might go for pad thai and butter chicken, which in my mind at least, are more mellow tasting asian dishes.
Okay I may have made that up so "scientific" is a stretch, but I'm sure I heard that somewhere.
Sounds like science to me. I like it.
This would also explain why girls seem to care a lot more about their dessert than their main.
...and crave things like chocolate.
Right, could really go for a pad thai followed by chocolate pudding right about now.
I don't go for noodly. But I never seem to fit most female stereotypes either.
My favourite is chilli basil as well. Pad thai boring.
