boy - you've really come to the table ben - i LOVE ride the lightning. I'd noticed a distinct lack of Metallica references in your metal-mania - but now, you've really made up for it.

... and why Ride over Justice?!

Hey Pete- I guess Metallica have been a bit of a given. I always knew them intimately, so when I went on my metal discovery this year, I didn't really need to explore them. But the love is still there, at least for those early years.

Mark- Definately 'Ride' over 'Justice'!! Justice is great. But it has its flaws (eg. the shocking mix of the bass.. doesn't sound like a bass so much as a reverberation).

And it's a little too political for my tastes. I like my metal to be about "Mages fighting on the hill in the early day". That's the good stuff.

And for me, 'Ride..' is closely followed by Master of Puppets (Pasta of Muppets). From there I have about the same level of attatchment for Killem all, And Justice and the Black album. Beyond that, I gave up on them.

Creeping death's my favourite track off Ride. Solid exegesis of Exodus 12 and exposition of the atonement ... in song ;)

" I ... Creep the steps and flood final darkness ... Blood ... Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass ... "

"Mages fighting on the hill in the early day"

= "Make his fight on the hill in the early day ..."?

Though, I do like the sword & sorcery angle.

No, no, no, no, noooo!

That changes everything for me. I deeply wish that it was 'Mages'. I have this great image in my head of a Gandalf-esque dude fighting a Saruman-esque dude on a hill, with stormy clouds behind them...Ohh yeah.

Well, that is sad indeed. 'Make his' is way far cool.

Agreed, Creeping Death is great, and I like how true to the actual story it is. They even got in the word 'Goshen'.

Respect.
