We are seeing Fantastic Mr Fox today for work. I'm pumped.

Have you read the book?

I'll be interested in what you think of the movie. Visually, it's pretty clever. But the heart and soul of the book was left on the cutting room floor. In the book, Mr. Fox is truly fantastic. Morally upright, resourceful, loved and loving, insightful... Don't know why they had to put all the incompetent man stuff in. Why not leave him fantastic?

My fav. lines in the book (and there are many like it)

"And Mrs Fox said to her children, 'I should like you to know that if it wasn't for your father we should ll be dead by now. Your father is a fantastic fox.'

Mr fox looked at his wife and she smiled. He loved her more than ever when she said things like that."

The kids noticed the changes and were a bit put out by them. Also thought it was too long. We were fidgetty 20 minutes before the end.

But enjoy.

That's dissappointing.

I love, love, love the book. It is my equal favourite Roald Dahl book with The BFG and Danny The Champion of The World.

Yes, I remember that quote too- it's awesome.

Oh well, maybe knowing this will lower my expectations a bit.
