Yikes #1

I'm doing my 7min "Ice Breaker" speech at Toastmasters tonight.

I only found out about this yesterday, and lay awake last night trying to work out how to reduce my life into a few minutes. Also trying to work out a non-lame sounding way of talking about being a Christian. Scary stuff.

Hi, Ben,

Sounds great. Have prayed :)

One thing I'd say is, you don't have to download the whole gospel. Be salty. Leave people wanting to know more.

One idea might be to just say a couple of lines about how Jesus can help you as a stutterer — how Jesus is better than the self-help kind of stuff that your audience will probably have imbibed. Idunno, maybe something along the lines of not having to worry about other people judging you, 'coz Jesus is your judge and has already accepted you.

Okay, that sounds a bit corny, but it's for illustrative purposes only :)

Thanks Stuart, especially for praying. That is not a bad angle to take on it, thanks. I want it to be brief, but meaningful. And I don't want it to just be a token thing to tick a box. But I think the idea of Jesus beibg my strength is good.

I hate the "reduce your life to a few minutes" bit. We've had to do a lot of that as missionaries on deputation. Even worse was trying to put my testimony into simple Japanese.

Anyway, I hope it goes well Ben.
