That's right - if you add up all the double-spacing you do each day on every blog post, comment, twitter, whatever, then you're going to have wasted something like 17.35 seconds of your life by the time you hit 45.
I'm a two space gal myself; it was drilled into me in kindergarten when you had to put two fingers after a period before you were supposed to start the next sentence, and that translates into typing as well.
The other day I was typing up a cover letter I asked a friend to proofread and he found it "quaint" that I used two spaces. I had had no idea that anyone else used one and became suddenly distressed as to whether my two spacing would adversely affect my career prospects.
That day I realized that, of course, it's quite easy to go and find replace all the double spaces with single spaces, but really, I don't think it's necessary. I'm quite happy to be quaint and classy.
And, really, guys ... what is this about it taking extra time to double space? That's just silly. Whatever you're used to is what's fastest ... honestly, for me it would take much longer to have to put the thought into not double spacing!
So there you have it. Kim in the two space camp. Why would you ever want to go otherwise?
Georgina - two at the end of paragraphs in letters I'm sending to members of the public. One in an essay/story.
And even though I know various software such as blogger will remove my extra spaces automatically, I still do two because, as Kim said, whatever you're used to is the fastest for you.
Traxy is right. If you want to submit stuff for publishing, you have to single space. I've gotten in trouble for double spacing from people "who know". Get with the times, Ben.

Twice.
Once after comma and twice after Full stop.
You're on the money brethra...
Wacom still isn't working.
Full stop.
Once. Why on earth would you use two when one is quite enough?
You only do it once.
We don't use typewriters any more, you can just tell Word (or whatever) to increase the distance between sentences, if you really care.
I'm a twice person.
Coincidentally, this debate has been raging in my work place over the past few days. There's no sign of any consensus yet ...
Here's a good article on the subject: http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/typespacing/a/onetwospaces.htm
It basically says double-spacing is something left over from the monotype days of printing and is no longer needed or wanted. :)
Hmm, interesting.
My oppinion is that the double just gives you a bit of breathing room as a reader. It's more asthetically pleasing to my eye.
I think we should settle this over a two team arm wrestle.
You do realise that on the internet, multiple spaces are ignored anyway, right?
Example:
- One space.
- Two spaces.
Really??
Well. This is a troubling revelation indeed.

WHY ARE YOU WASTING YOUR LIFE?!
I don't know, but it's time to take a long, hard look at myself.
I can confirm: when I typeset I have to find and remove all the 2#. Double spacers are wasting their time AND precious minutes of my time.
I believe design software puts a more generous single space after a full stop, so no reason to use a 2# for readability.
wow.. this post has been like an intervention.
Yes, another typesetter saying no double spaces! It is a painful job to find them all.
Letterpress is over now, we don't need two anymore.
I'm trying to become a one space person but I keep lapsing.
I will try harder.
Two spaces is classy. One space is modern.

I'm a two spacer. My husband is a single.
