Little e

Our nights have been pretty shocking lately. Little e has really bad eczema, and wakes in the middle of the night in extreme discomfort, clawing at her skin. It's really been awful. She is totally distraught and uncontrollable, kicking and screaming, refusing any help, and we end up being awake with her for hours and hours (last night we were all awake from about midnight until about 3am I think).

It's taking it's toll on all of us, and we just wish we could find something that would help. Feels like we've pretty much tried everything.

Hey Mate,
Jesse (our middle kid) gets eczema/dematitis/something on his legs and back, and he was scratching till it bled.

My mother in law saw a "consumer report" (read: "ad") on A Current Affair about this stuff: http://www.carolineskincare.com/carolines_cream.html

We got some for him and it's been working really well. Might be worth a shot here too.

Ben - our daughter LJ has had eczema since birth. I feel your pain. Have a read of the management plan we got on my blog.

Hi Ben, my son has eczema (not nearly as bad as little e by the sound of it) and we were recommended to put him on an elimination diet to test for allergies. Not sure if you have tried this?

We didn't actually do it, as it isn't impacting our son too badly at this stage and I am too lazy... but I think if it were impacting to the extent it is for little e, I would give it a go.

Sorry to hear about the sleepless nights...glad Helen has replied as I was going to suggest checking out her blog for some tips :)
Praying that you all can get some relief soon :)

My niece has eczema. My sister was telling us that she got her a silk blanket. You have to treat them well (can't wash them often and have to dry in shade) but it works for her.

My hubby wonders whether you have used a topical corticosteroid as this worked for him in the past. Of course, you'd need a prescription for this. He says apparently not all are suitable for children.

Ben - did any of the stuff on my blog help? Am happy to commisserate. LJ and I were in the paper 2 weeks ago for eczema week. The Eczema association is also really helpful.

Julie- we recently tried the diet elimination thing a bit after seeing a naturapath. As it didn't seem to be making a difference we sort of gave up and went to a steroid cream to get things a bit under control again.

Karen- thankyou for the prayers

Laetitia- we are looking into the whole silk thing now. It's extremely expensive, that's for sure..

Helen- thankyou, yes I've been reading your blog and checking out your advice. We'll try some of those things.
