Plans

One of my (many!) planned projects for the holidays is to make a second vege patch, about 3m x 2m. At the moment it's just grass along there. I got 50 old pavers that a neighbour was throwing out to make the edges.

It'll have a row of herbs separated along the front there. I can't wait to get stuck into it. I want to get a barrel to put at the back there. Not sure what I'll grow in it.. maybe climbing beans or something.

At the top right you can see the strawberry patch we made a few months back (yes, that's a garden gnome in the middle there), and the passionfruit vine we planted to grow on the fence above it.

I'll post a photo of the finished thing.

Aww, exciting. Planning is the best fun.

ooh, hurrah! Is that a north-facing fence? I have been hanging out to plant tomatoes and basil in our patch, but hard to find time with a bub. Last year we had so many cherry tomatoes - it was glorious.

Jess- yeah, I love planning and doing a stack of rather pointless drawings of what things might look like.

Jo- Hm, it's actually east i think, but it gets a fair bit of light, so hopefully it'll be ok. I have a stack of tomato plants going in the first patch, but no fruit yet. I hope you find the chance to do some planting. there's nothing better than the taste of your own tomatoes with your own basil together. yum.

Actually north east for the record. Just had a look on google maps.

Grow potatoes on the barrel - basically just keep adding mulch to keep the light off the tubers growing down below.

Your drawings are cool. They are definitely a highlight (amongst many) of your blog! I wish I could doodle like you.

Finally got round to planting on Sunday - tomatoes, four kinds of basil and beans. So excited!! I'm hoping to get some strawberries in this weekend.
