Shocker

Wow, we had the most shocking night last night. It was the second night since biting the bullet and putting the girls in the same room together. The first night was tiring, but last night was just horrible.

Little e just refused to sleep, and was kicking and screaming basically all night. It's hard to get across how bad those nights can get. When it's say, 3am, and you've got this kid screaming at you, pushing you away, refusing to just stay put, your emotions can really get away from you. You are so tired, and just want to go back to bed, and you well with resentment and anger. It is so frustrating, and you really can go to a pretty dark place.

Anyway, this is nothing you've not heard before, but sometimes you just need to vent about these things.

I know exactly how you feel with that.

It's worth it though - soon they'll be looking after each other at night, and chattering away, and it's great.

Vent away.
We've all been there.
Particularly those who shared their own rooms with their sibs.
My wife recounts an argument with her sister because one of them was 'breathing too loud'.

Fifteen years down the track our twin sons now have separate rooms.
An eerie silence descends on the house after their lights out.

Thanks, guys.

And thanks for stopping by, mgpcpastor. Nice to hear from someone a fair bit further along in this crazy parenting thing.

sounds like we had very similar nights ben! we had a stand of with charlie at 1.30am who when given the choice of sleeping in his bed with little brother asleep in the room OR sleeping on the thinking chair in the kitchen, chose the thinking chair for an hour! with much screaming thrown in too... :( then two more times after that! IT IS AWFUL.

So she was complaining about Little i being in the room? (Sorry, I've forgotten who is older.)

As a youngest child with no children of my own I only have the experience of being in a room with one of my sisters - until I moved onto one verandah or the other for a few years / sisters moved out.

At one point one sister complained that I was "cutting through her room" to get to mine. I was cutting through the corner gap formed by wardrobes as walls. I think my attitude at the time was along the lines of "I was on this verandah first". Ah, good times. ;-)

mq2- Eesh, that sounds fun! I hope last night was better. You gotta feel for the younger sibling in these cases.. 'is my presence in your precious room sooo bad?'

Laetitia- little e is nearly 3, little i is nearly 1. Little e was disturbed from her sleep when the baby cried a bit, and once that had happened, she just refused to sleep again, or even stay in the remote vicinity of her bed..

I have fond memories of sharing rooms with my big brother. I think it's always more fun for the younger one, and often just a nuisance for the older one.

My sisters are 6, 4.5 and 3.5 years older than I am. I was put in a room with the eldest; I assume that the other two had been put in a room together and my parents didn't want to disturb a working relationship.

I think it was difficult for both my eldest sister and me because of the age gap. After all, I was 7 when she was hitting puberty and when she started uni I hadn't even started high school.
