1. I wish I was around when..Christ rose from the dead.
Crazyjedidiah, I think you'd have to go back to pre-Fall Eden to get to the time you desire. There have pretty much always been women like my grandmother - the unpaid / underpaid 'help' - around.
2. Something you've been thinking about - prayer - it's something that doesn't necessarily require use of my eyes (I'm having post surgery vision issues - really tired eyes).
3. What keeps you up at night? - uncared-for cats in breeding season (yowling cats on heat and fighting Toms not kept indoors).
4. A song you like to dance to - Foot Loose
5. Where do you picture yourself being in 20 years? What would you be doing? - hmm, when I'm 57 - on the basis that we've tended to move every 2-3 years on average since we married 13 years ago and have lived in several different cities including overseas, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say, Kandern, Germany; quilting, singing, playing sax in a big band and teaching ESL. It's either that or happily ensconced in Logan, working as a traffic engineer and doing ESL, quilting, sax and singing as hobbies. :-)

Laetitia, what I meant was there was a time when the men were the breadwinners and the women did the housework. I suppose I don't mind doing the housework, however I'm sick to death of looking for work and if I was in a society where I didn't have to have job to survive then I wouldn't have to bother.

Ah Crazyjedidiah, it sounds like the thing you're wanting is a cross-product of the industrial revolution (before that, men weren't "the breadwinners" because for most families, the only members not involved in income generation were the smallest children or the disabled who couldn't physically participate) and strict anti-divorce laws and then to find a man who's happy to be in the "provider" role.

However, I perfectly understand the desire for income support without having to fill in the soul-destroying Centrelink booklet that tells you that you can't look for work only in your own industry (I too can tell horror stories of no replies to applications or rude phone calls from frustrated potential employers bombarded by applications from drastically over or under-qualified applicants who are simply doing the Centrelink forced rounds). Unfortunately, I can also tell horror stories from friends who thought they had the man until he left them and the kids for the single, no-stretch-marks woman with the good job.

All the best for the job hunt - when you get a job you enjoy, it's all worth it, trust me. You'll find that, while you wouldn't do the job on a voluntary basis (one must pay the bills, after all) it becomes less about the money and more about the experience. What industry are you (wanting to be) in?

Cj-sounds like a good plan for the future..

Wendy- I get a hankering for different eras ALL the time. 50's. 60's. 30's. 1800's. 1500's. (mainly so I could weild a sword) The present is too techy and iPhoney for me.

Pedro- ..or ANYTHING from 'Off The Wall'

Ruth- no, that's not bad at all. I have a similar picture for my self. Except I'd hopefully not be a grandmother.

Laetitia- they call you The Wanderer..

Kim- I hear big pinky white flowers are good

Al- I hope to be reading CS Lewis in my arm chair too. Sounds great.

George- VERY existential. And very Marty McFly.

Maso- I've just started running again. It hurts.

Beth- Hope you guys get the house!

Deb- that song has painful connotations for me--

Ben, fortunately for my husband, I'm not like the singer of that song. :-)

Yeah but Ben doesn't that just prove it is a GREAT song to belt out and dance to?

I should show more sympathy. I'm sorry for your pain.
