It depends on your typeface and kerning. In the case of this blog, with it's single-spaced slab-serif body font, it looks exactly like two vs. ARGH that looks like the abreviation of verses, not a plural V. Anyway, I think you're safe to use luvvie in some circumstances, after you examine the typography.
Jess- I'm unsure what kerning is, but I'm guessing it's some kind of wood wind instrument. Also you are right that it is not a problem with the font on my blog, but look here in the comment section- two vv's are totally a w.
Belle- Take away skivvie and luvvie, and that's like 65% of my blog posts gone.
Recently I had cause to to search for somebody's gravestone. The gentleman in question (who may have been a bit of a difficult type) lies interred under a massive slab inscribed "... IN LOWING MEMORY OF ....". That is definately not LUVVING.

I *hadn't* noticed that, but perhaps that's because I'm never tempted to use the word 'luvvie'. Or 'skivvy'. Are there others?

Spell luvvie with one 'v'...thus avoiding the problem AND giving it a nice Scottish twist...

OFAW- Ha! Yes, good call.
Vaughan- Wow, gravestone research.. many questions arise. What does 'lowing' memory mean?
