Where The Wild Things Are

Did you know a movie is being made of Where The Wild Things Are? How cool is that? It is still a long way off (I think it hits the cinemas late next year), but still, I reckon it could be cool.

It's being directed by Spike Jonze, who is a great choice. The few pictures I have seen look really cool, and the monsters look just like they do in the book.

lock it in mate!!! We're there!
I just bought that book for my nephew. It rocks. I think I still have my original copy at my mum and dads somewhere.
Gold.

Isn't it great!

I'm a little hesitant about the movie, however. The beauty of the book is as much in what it doesn't say as in what it does... Movies aren't so good at that.

Oh well. I guess we'll see.

yeah, awesome book. When I saw it again as an adult, after not seeing it since childhood, I was surprised at how little text there was. In my mind it was this giant epic journey. The clever part is that this feeling is communicated so well in the language --"he sailed in and out of days", and through the great drawings.

I am looking forward to the film, though I hope they don't introduce too many new elements in order to make it 'movie-length' Short and simple is best.
