Slow on the uptake as usual, I have only just started watching Man vs. Wild.
I love it, it's right up my alley-- watching someone trying to survive in the wild. From the comfort of my lounge room.
In the episode I watched, he caught fish with his bare hands, swam down 12 miles of rapids and ran away from a bear. It was pretty much everything I wanted in a TV show.
Bear Grylls is my new hero.

We love watching Bear also... he's quite courageous.
Yeah- it's fun to experience this courage vicariously..
....although, we read that Bear is airlifted out of the most difficult places and taken to a hotel to sleep the night, then brought back in the morning. This deflated our enthusiasm a little... still, he is fun to watch :)
It is good fun isn't it.
Though the episode on Monday night was the first where he seems to have actually been freaked out and stressed. Granted, he was being chased by a GIANT BEAR.
I have heard the airlift/hotel thing too. No idea if it is true.
Also, he's called Bear. Which is awesome.
Bear was chased by a bear... (I found this funny at 2am. My husband didn't).
Christine-That's terrible news-- next you'll tell me Santa's not real..
Amy- Few things are funny at 2am. Yeah, I wish I could be called Bear. Actually my two sisters call me Bear, but sadly no one else.
Hey Christine- you've got a blog! Good stuff.
From now on I am going to call you Bear.
Go on, I dare ya
Bear or Benny?
Considering all the worms he eats, cliffs he leaps off and freezing lakes he jumps in for my "educational" benefit, I don't begrudge him the odd hotel room.
Have you seen the episode in which he drinks fluid from fresh elephant dung?
Seriously, give that man a new!!
Izaac- They both warm my cockles equally.
Micheal- Thanks for dropping by! Ew, 'fluid'.
Yeah, I agree with Michael, I don't have a problem with his hotel room outings, as long as he's up front about it.
I also enjoy listening to his voice, it's cool :)
Does he remain your new hero with the knowledge that his second child is called Marmaduke?
I swear you've got a post on that name somewhere in the archives...
Say it ain't so, Ell!
Yes, you are right, here's that post-

haha Ell, yes, I read he had a kid called Marmaduke, hilarious :)
We love watching this show too. Good ol' entertainment - but I'm quite disappointed to hear about the hotel sleeping, not quite so vs wild as I thought.
Yeah I know, Ruth. ps- Good to have you back blogging after your break.
