Happy 2nd Day Of Winter

Well, back to the start of Winter, historically my least favourite season.

For some reason Winter has always produced for me the most sighs per square foot. It's cold, and often wet, the mornings are dark, the afternoons are dark.

This year I'm going to try and buck up and enjoy it more. Make some big whopping pots of soup. Do a painting of some bare trees. Go for a walk with a take away coffee.

What do you like to do over the Winter months?

Surf brethra..heaps.
ECL's (East coast lows) form a queue to bash the coast of australia, drumming up groomed swells all winter long. Offshore winds keep em pretty (and cold!!!) but its beautiful mate...

Well....over here winter is a time to hibernate....temperatures around freezing or lower and LOTS of snow. Lots of fun things to do when you were a kid...not so much as you get older...but an excellent time for soups and stews...

And wearing my black overcoat.

Wear jeans...every day. :-)

Basically, wear all my 'cool' cold weather clothes, though not all at once.

Indoor activities.

Hot chocolates. :-)

funny - summer is just beginning here.

in the winter i like to read. i also sit in front of a full spectrum light box to ward off s.a.d. (seasonal affect disorder) from lack of sunlight.

hope you can find some way to enjoy it ben!

Pedro- Sounds good, though I'm sure if I asked what you like to do over the Summer, Autumn or Spring months, you still would have said surfing.

Pete- Yeah, E has a soft spot for them too.

Christine- I agree, North is good!

Beth-In some ways that's what's annoying about our winters. They are half-hearted. If they were extreme like yours in the States, you'd be cold, but at least you'd have cool stuff like snow, and open fires and all that. We just get rain and badly heated appartments.

Also, you have Christmas (and Thanksgiving?) in yours, whereas we have nothing good like that. Best thing about my Winter is that on the very last day, it's my Birthday.

Gary- I gotta get me an overcoat. I also might try and bring back the skivvy.

Laetitia- yeah, and you don't even have to feel bad about wearing jeans non-stop, because theres no sweating to warrant washing.

Lu- I've never heard of that before.. sounds annoying. Aw, I envy you just going into Summer. I love Summer, and getting out all my Beach Boys albums.

I am finding winter really hard going this year! It is cold and dark down here in Melbourne, and my work days have meant that I leave for work AND get home in the dark. I'm resolving to a) take every opportunity to sit in the sun during the day, b) keep the house cosy in the evenings with lamps and rugs and music on, and c) make stews, roasts and pies whenever possible. The pheasant pie on Masterchef the other night was inspiring!
