Bloggers don't seem to care for the football very much. Which is sad, because I love it, but know that posting about it will most likely be met by surreptitious eye rolling from you. But post I must.
Painfully, Origin II last night coincided with Bible study, so I only got to race home and catch the last 20 minutes, but it was a beautiful thing to see the underdog Blues get up against Queensland in front of 80,000 people. It brings a little tear to me eye.
Gallen was amazing, and the team was good in general. Hoppa's try was a beauty. Soward and Minichiello's try at the end was wonderful. I can't wait to catch the last 20 minutes of the decider in a few weeks.
Go you mighty Blues.

It's not that I don't like football, it's just that origin is the wrong code. You see my dad grew up down south and mum was never really into football so I have grown up on Aussie Rules. Please forgive me for that.
It'll be difficult, but I'll try.
I'm prepared to notice football sometimes. I was a quite happy that NSW won when I woke up and heard it on the radio this morning.
It's ok Ben. I love football. I watched Origin in my blues jersey, and cheered loudly and fist pumped when Mini put it beyond doubt.
I think you get a new appreciation for Origin living north of the border.
Jess- Well, that's reassurring.
Nath- glad to hear it. I kind of envy QLD their passion and hardcoreness at Origin time. Blues supporters, myself included, feel like fair weather friends a bit.
'twas a cracking game and the Blues forward play outpointed Queensland's by some margin, and without space a backline can't function.
The fullback/wing/quarters on both teams didn't have a lot of opportunity.
Gallen played out of his skin.
I should be in Brisbane on July 6. Promises to be a great night.
That's great Gary- it'll be a fantasic contest I'm sure.
Gosh, look at all you closet footy meatheads coming out of the woodwork! It brings me deep joy.
This ex-pat Queenslander loves the Origin, unfortunately they don't broadcast it in Japan :( Regards last night's result: I guess the Maroons have to let you guys win one every once in a while to keep you interested!
There was jumping up and down in our lounge room (Ricky Stuart style) when the Blues scored. Nothing like footy to bring a family together :)
Wendy- Them's fighting words.
Kath- Good to hear! Thanks for stopping by.
I went to one League game in my many years of living in Qld. The audience was overwhelmingly male and there were squads of adolescent cheerleaders being yelled obscenities at by the drunken middle-aged men nearest the field (pitch? oval? whatever...). Once was enough.
Then I came to Melbourne and attended an Aussie Rules game. No cheerleaders, just kids playing Auskick during the break. The memory of one little guy in a jumper too big for him doing a victory lap when he got a try still makes me smile. The stands were full of women of all ages, many bellowing the most detailed technical advice at the players. I became a convert, have never looked back (in spite of the performance of my Doggies this season!!). Didn't even know the State of Origin was on, I'm afraid :)
So if all these people like State of Origin, could you ditch Bible study that night?
It sounds like it'd be a great opportunity for the people in your Bible study to meet one another's friends, and, you know, celebrate…um…the things you like about rugby league.
