My Vice Of Choice

I've developed a slightly concerning addiction to Throaties. It started a while back when I actually had a sore throat, and I bought a pack, kind of for nostalgic reasons (usually I'd go for a butter menthol), and they really hit the spot. But the sore throat went and the Throaties stayed.

I'm loving my Throaties. Firstly, just look at that packet. Nobody makes packets like that anymore. I miss old packaging. (Remember when Kit Kats came in that nice foil, wrapped in paper? You genuinely felt like Charlie Bucket whenever you bought one.) But for some reason, Throaties have stayed true to their roots. They are still just Throaties from the block. A nice cardboard box, with nice old school graphics. And look- 23 Soft Lozenges! Not 20. Not 25. No, 23. So specifically random. And just the presence of the humorous word 'lozenge' is worth the price of admission alone.  If I have a son, I'm going to push for Lozenge as his middle name.

Another nice thing is the fine print that says 'do not exceed a dosage of 3 packs for adults in 24 hours.' Three packs! 24 hours! That is a heck of a lot of guilt-free lozenge allowed to me. 69 in fact. I'll rarely exceed maybe 5 a day, but just knowing that I can consume a potential 69, is quite comforting.

And it's just the texture. It's like a medicinal hard jube (Jube: another serious contender for son's middle name) that keeps giving. It's not too soft, it's not too hard. It's just the right jubitiousness. Funnily enough I hate licorice and aniseed in any other scenario, but for some reason, the Throatie just knocks down those walls of predudice and lets the love in.

Go on. Suck a Throatie today.

I've never heard of Throaties, but now I wish I had. So much joy. Thankyou, Ben.

Oh gosh Jess. Rush to your nearest grocery shop, head to the lozenge vicinity and try one this very day.

I'm so glad you had girls. Lozenge! Jube!

But I too think having 23 in a pack is awesome.

As a child, I used to love Throaties. Sadly, they have ingredients I can no longer eat.
