Did you know it's actually, so I'm told by the elite, pronounced mol-a-skeen-ay too, because it's French. It's actually not spelt moleskin like the pants, though many of us ockers down here think so.

Hah! Well for starters it takes twice as long to say, which is annoying ...

I never stopped to consider why the pants were called moleskins either until this moment. (You might have had to grow up in the country to know about those, and if you studied rural science at Armidale Uni they were like the uniform, matched with a striped shirt, the collar up, and riding boots.)
