Winter's Day, Enfield

Winter's Day, Enfield (2008)
Oil on Canvas

Well, I got some painting in this arvo. This took a couple of hours to do. Stupidly I didn't dress very warmly, and spent most of that time shivering. Smoked a cigar to keep me warm. I am pleased with how it turned out, and feel good to have achieved something.

i really like it ben. i'm trying to think of why i like and maybe sound like i know something about art. let's see. i like the perspective and the lines and the colors. does that sound at all like i know something about art? anyway - it would be something i would like to have hanging in my house.

Great job on this painting, Ben! I like the use of shapes and how the colors play against each other. Very calming. All of your paintings have this in common and tie into each other, maybe you'll have to make a book soon!

Great work Ben. You're a man of many talents. I can see you're absolutely hanging out for the next baby shower invite that comes your way.

Nice work (as usual) Brethra.
Don't know about the cigar keeping you warm?...Might keep your burgeoning throat cancer cells warm... But I can almost feel the cool air you were working in..
A+ young man.

Have to agree with Pedro on that one. Cigars......ick.

If I was E, that would mean no kissing for the rest of the weekend.

lu- Thanks, that's a nice compliment! Yep, you sound like you know more than the average critic:)
Chris- Thanks Chris:) Yeah I do seem to always find myself painting the same kind of things.. I just like roofs and shadows, really! Btw-- I like your new site, it looks really good.
Trish- Yeah I am looking forward to it. There should be another one or two just around the corner. As for cigar breath- it's like fine wine. You need to develop a pallate for it. In the meantime, toothpaste does wonders.
Pete- Thanks cuz. What is life without a little vice here and there? For you it's Endless Love, for me cigars. It's arguable which is more damaging.

Ben, love it. I was reading the other day (in my drawing self-education) about seeing the colour in white, which you seem to have perfected ... not easy! I am wondering whether you take commissions? :) - if I organised a baby shower perhaps? ;)
