Ah, 2.0 explains everything. I've got the upgraded version, with redundant sections removed (I used to follow League around a decade ago, obviously, my improved brain doesn't require that any more).
Interesting, RC. It's true, some new, cutting-edge experimental software was removed from the standard 2.0's in the 90's as it was deemed too advanced at the time for the clumsy old 2.0 packages to cope with.
Ah, that explains the improvements over the earlier models... they have removed the unnecessary cruft, fought feature creep and unnecessary UI bloat, allowing for higher operating speeds and faster response times.
Excellent stuff, direct correlations to pruning the branch to allow the good fruit to flourish.
well...if you want to know how a spanish speaking person would pronounce it, its Nah-chos. Short and succinct. There is no ow sounding vowel in the spanish / mexican vernacular. Doesn't change the fact that done well, they taste unreal!!
(In other, completely unrelated news - my kids were watching a Pied Piper of Hamlin show on the ABC a week or two ago, and I spotted a Ben McLaughlin in the credits - was that you?)
Yes Benno, that is pretty close to the correct pronunciation. However, the vowel 'i' is pronounced as 'ee' so the burritos would be 'boo-ree-tos'. The 'u' is pronounced as 'oo'. Good language. If you want e, write e!!!!
My brother-in-law, who knows everything there is to know about everything, and uses his iPod for things like teaching himself Spanish and French, just because, recently set me straight over "chorizos" so I'm going to ask him.
That is true Ben. When I try and copy "chorizos" I sound like a poxy wannabe.
There's some kind of complicated, abstract question in here about appropriating words from other languages. Maybe instead we should just rename the nachos (I do say "choes" by the way, even tho I'd have guessed "choss" to be more correctly Spanish) to something Aussie - would you like "bangers and mash" or ____? I'm uninspired - maybe I'll ask my ocker friends instead ...

"Choes". Always have, always will.
comrade.
I knew you'd say it right!
You seem to have a duplicate of my brain tucked away somewhere (although obviously it's a flawed copy as I don't follow any football)...
i have the good copy. yours must be the 2.0 version. I'll pray for you though.
Choes. Definitely choes.

Good job, Nathan. Go The Choes.

Sort of a new wine in old wineskins issue.

Rodeo, yeah Eve thought that fruit was good too.
Pete, do you also say buri-toss? ta-coss?
@Ben - Knowledge of Good and Evil wasn't one of the revoked sectors. And I would suggest that Eve pruned where she shouldn't have :)
@Pedro - Spanish speakers get it wrong then. Non sé Habla Espanol!*
*(No offense to any spanish speakers).
Rodeo, i'll let you win to save face in front of your peers.
Thanks Ben!

(I will note that none of my peers are likely to ever read these comments, so feel free to continue if you so desire ;)).
yeah, that was me. I did character design for that series.
Sweet!

is it wrong that I think the picture you posted looks yummy?? I'm hungry!

i don't have a problem with the spanish pronouncing it their way. but when you say their pronunciation in an Aussie accent, it just sounds stoopid.
What Ben just said is a (much more) polite way of saying what I said earlier about Spanish speakers.
Pretend I said something similar, instead of being rude and insensitive to other cultures...

Ali, I think we did rename Nachos. We just 'choes'* to keep the spelling the same. English is awesome like that :)
*(mis-)spelling intentional
Yes, I think you're right. Soon they'll probably just be "choes", with but a distant link to anything Spanish, anyway ...
